Having never owned any device made by apple in the past, I am now the happy owner of an iPhone 3G... Previously I disliked the apple brand, its pretentious "style over substance" image, Apple existed to make the lives of software developers (like myself) a mysery....

The buying experience was not a bad one, I am notably cooler for my new purchase, even attracting a 30 minute conversation from a fashion designer at my daughters pre-school end-of-term party.

The hype may strengthen the apple brand.. I feel like a member of a small but growing, elite club who were willing to endure the queues and registration process to gain access. Myself and a couple of million others that is.

the 3G is of course a great device, and despite its much publicised faults I've not even come close to wishing I never got it.
